Galleries

Each of us has a large or small number of interesting shots we've taken over time. These might include holiday snaps which mean a lot to us; we might be proud of prize-winning images; or we've taken pics which we just like - and want to share with sympathetic viewers. Each and every club member can have such a gallery here. It's important to know that no-one is awarding marks out of twenty so judgephobia needn't bother you!

Galleries aren't just limited to the usual formats. You might be a panorama enthusiast, produce QTVR movies or want to present your AVs. If you'd like to have several galleries showing Scottish landscapes, holiday portraits and AVs of your tartan slipper collection it'll be done, technical wizardry permitting.

To add a gallery, or to update an existing one, please email jpegs to the web editor. Normally, to allow fast download, they should each fit within a 400 pixel x 400 pixel square. A portrait shot, for example, might be 400px high but only 300px wide. After resizing them you can sharpen them for optimum impact. To download a one-page pdf which describes how to resize for your gallery please click here. To find out how to sharpen you might want to ask Mr Google.

Although I'd recommend the control offered by the resizing and sharpening procedure above, there is an alternative; give a CD of larger images to me, Gordon Saunders, at a club night or post it to me (address on Committee page). I now have software which will resize photos to the final dimensions. Unfortunately, it doesn't sharpen them so there's a risk of the pics looking a wee bit blurry. Whichever way you want to send them they'll be on this site in a matter of days.

Here's a handy site where you can calculate sizes for printing or whatever.

Panoramas would be better shown larger so 1,000px wide would be fine. QTVRs and AVs might have technical and size constraints so please contact the web editor to discuss them before sending them.
